The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic
family fraternal service organization with 1.6 million
members. It provides members and their families with
volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church,
their communities, families and young people.
As a member of the Knights of Columbus you and your family
enjoy many benefits, including 12 free issues annually of the
Columbia magazine, the world's largest Catholic family
magazine, eligibility to join the Knights of Columbus
top-ranked life insurance program, and many more family and
personal benefits.
As our Council begins its work,
we hope to share with you our plans for Church Activities, Youth Activities, Family Activities,
Community Service and Council Activities.
Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to practicing
Catholic men in union with the Holy See, who are at least 18
years old. A practicing Catholic is one who lives up to the
Commandments of God and the precepts of the Church.
Application blanks are available from any member of the
Knights of Columbus or email the Membership Director.
Any Third Degree member in good standing, one year
after the anniversary of his First Degree, is eligible for
membership in the Fourth Degree. The primary purpose of the
Fourth Degree is to foster the spirit of patriotism by
promoting responsible citizenship and a love of and loyalty
to the Knights' respective countries through active
membership in local Fourth Degree groups (called
"assemblies"). Certain members of the Fourth Degree serve as
honor guards at civic and religious functions, an activity
that has brought worldwide recognition to the Knights of
Columbus.
Our council belongs to the Abraham Lincoln Assembly. Their
web page may be found
here.
We will publish the date and time of the 4th Degree for the members of our
Council when it is determined.
The Ladies Auxiliary's main function is to SUPPORT the men
and the council. They do this primarily by providing help at
events, cooking for events and providing monetary help. They
also generally do help with setting up and beautifying the
hall for events.
When the Ladies Auxiliary is initiated, information will be posted here.
The Squires is an international fraternity of approximately 25,000 Catholic young men, ages 10 to 18, in over 1,400 circles worldwide. Circles exist, or have existed, throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Panama, Cuba, the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands, Guam, and on U.S. military bases abroad. Local Knights of Columbus councils and assemblies sponsor Squire circles, which may be based either in a council/assembly hall, in a parish building, a parochial, private, public or military school, or on a military installation. The Squires involves young men in programs to benefit the Church, the community, as well as in recreational and social activities.
The Squires emblem includes a Maltese cross upon which are the letters "P" (physical fitness); "I" (intellectual development); S (spiritual growth and the practice of our faith); and "C" (citizenship and civic life). The large letters "C" and "S" intertwined with the cross respectively represent Christ and Squires. The "K" centered on the cross symbolizes the Knights of Columbus. Esto Dignus, the Squires' motto encircling the emblem, is Latin for "Be Worthy."
A Squires Circle has been reinstated at our parish. Their meeting dates, times, and locations can be found on our Activities Page.
